The High Commission of India in Dar es Salaam is pleased to announce the launch of the India-Africa Maitri Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2025-26. This prestigious opportunity, offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), is open to Tanzanian nationals interested in pursuing Undergraduate, Postgraduate, or PhD studies in top universities across India.
About the India-Africa Maitri Scholarship
This scholarship program is part of India’s commitment to strengthen educational and cultural ties with Africa. Through the ICCR’s support, selected students will have the opportunity to gain a world-class education while experiencing India’s rich cultural heritage and academic excellence.
Who is Eligible?
Tanzanian students meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- Age Requirements:
- Undergraduate & Postgraduate: 18 to 40 years
- PhD applicants: up to 50 years
- Academic Qualifications: Meet the minimum eligibility for your chosen course and institution
- English Proficiency: Required. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay in English. Standardized test scores such as TOEFL or IELTS can be included if available.
- Medical Insurance: Mandatory personal health insurance with a minimum annual cover of INR 5 lakh (approx. TZS 15 million). ICCR does not provide medical coverage.
