In light of the newly approved Employment Permit No. FA.97/288/01/25 dated April 29, 2025, issued by the Secretary General of the President’s Office, Ukerewe District Council Vacancies May 2025, Public Service Management and Good Governance, the Executive Director of Ukerewe District Council is inviting applications from qualified Tanzanian citizens to fill nine (9) new job vacancies as listed below:

New 500 Vacancies Ajira Portal

1. Office Management Secretary Grade II – 3 Positions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Typing letters, reports, and both confidential and routine documents.
  • Receiving visitors, addressing their concerns, and directing them to the relevant departments.
  • Managing records and information such as appointments, guest logs, meeting schedules, and travel itineraries for supervisors.
  • Retrieving and organizing required documents for daily operations.
  • Distributing files to officers within departments or relevant sections.
  • Collecting and returning documents to appropriate storage.
  • Preparing summaries and logistics for meetings, also
  • Drafting a list of required office supplies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Form Four certificate holders with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or NTA Level 6 in Secretarial Studies.
  • Passed shorthand in both English and Kiswahili (80 words per minute).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, Publisher).
  • Qualification must be from a government-recognized institution.

Salary Scale:

Government salary scale TGS C.

2. Records Management Assistant Grade II – 5 Positions

Key Responsibilities:

  • Registering incoming mail and documents.
  • Registering outgoing mail and correspondences.
  • Distributing files to respective officers.
  • Receiving returned files from departments.
  • Searching for and retrieving needed documents/files.
  • Returning files to racks or storage locations, also
  • Monitoring the flow and circulation of files within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV or VI).
  • Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Records Management from a government-recognized institution.
  • Computer literacy is required.

Salary Scale:

Government salary scale TGS C.

3. Boat/Ferry Driver – 1 Position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mooring and unmooring ferries or boats.
  • Ensuring safety of passengers and vehicles on board.
  • Properly arranging passengers and vehicles on the boat/ferry.
  • Steering and navigating the boat/ferry.
  • Maintaining journey logs.
  • Ensuring ferry engines are functional, and also
  • Monitoring fuel levels and mechanical components.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV).
  • At least two years of experience in operating and maintaining boats/ferries.
  • Certificate from Dar es Salaam Marine Institute or any government-recognized maritime training institute and also
  • Must have completed six months of training in maritime life-saving, swimming, and ferry/boat operation.

Salary Scale: Government salary scale TGOS A.

Application Requirements:

  • Firstly Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 (except current government employees).

  • Current public servants applying for a different cadre must submit applications through their employers.

  • Certificates obtained abroad must be verified by TCU, NECTA, or NACTE.
  • Retired public servants are not eligible unless they have special clearance from the Chief Secretary.
  • Applicants already employed in entry-level government positions must not apply.
  • Application Deadline: All applications must be submitted by June 5, 2025.
