About the Role
As an Administrator and Project Support Intern, you’ll work alongside UNFPA’s Pretoria-based GBVF Directorate, contributing to initiatives aimed at:
- Ending preventable maternal deaths
- Ensuring universal access to family planning
- Eliminating gender-based violence
This internship offers mentorship, skill development, and the chance to make a real impact on lives across South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data and Information Management
- Maintain a central repository of GBVF-related information
- Collect, organize, and update reports and submissions
- Track and coordinate data requests
2. Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and manage stakeholder databases
- Verify and update contact records quarterly
3. Event and Meeting Coordination
- Organize stakeholder meetings and virtual events
- Record meeting minutes and assist with logistics
- Follow up on action items and deliverables
4. Project Monitoring and Research
- Research and monitor national GBVF initiatives
- Attend online meetings and report findings
- Share progress updates with the team
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following:
- Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree (with at least 1 year completed), OR
- Have graduated within the last 12 months, OR
- Be enrolled in a recognized postgraduate trainee programme that includes an internship
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Interest in international development, social justice, or human rights
- Excellent written and spoken English (additional languages are a bonus)
- Strong research, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work in multicultural and inclusive environments
- Prior experience in development work (volunteer work counts!)
