Position: Project Accountant

Role Overview
TAHA is seeking a Project Accountant who brings strong financial acumen, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for excellence. You’ll be responsible for managing the financial functions of donor-funded projects to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with both internal policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Accounting
- Maintain accurate financial records of all project transactions.
- Process payments, receipts, and journal entries.
- Reconcile project bank accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor and control project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Maintain a fixed asset register and track project assets effectively.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in developing and revising project budgets.
- Track actual spending versus budgeted figures and report variances.
- Support the creation of financial forecasts.
3. Financial Reporting
- Prepare timely and accurate reports for both management and donors.
- Ensure compliance with donor-specific financial requirements.
- Assist in organizational financial statements and fund requests.
4. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to internal financial protocols and national regulations (TRA, NSSF, etc.).
- Support internal and external audit processes.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks through robust internal controls.
5. Capacity Building & Collaboration
- Train TAHA staff on financial procedures, budgeting, and compliance.
- Work closely with other departments—such as HR, procurement, and logistics—to ensure sound financial practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA/ACCA certification is a strong advantage.
Experience
- 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in donor-funded projects (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies).
- Familiarity with donor financial regulations and reporting standards.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, MS Dynamics, or ERP systems).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Knowledge of procurement and grant management procedures.
