What Is the General Residential Repairer Skills Programme?

This government-backed initiative is designed to equip 250 unemployed South African youth (ages 18–35) with essential skills in residential maintenance and repair. The programme is hosted across various local municipalities in the North West Province and offers participants:

  • A 6-month training course (NQF Level 3, 31 credits)
  • Monthly stipend of R3,000
  • Hands-on practical training in real communities
  • Valuable technical and repair skills for future employment

Who Can Apply?

Eligibility Criteria:

  • South African citizen aged 18 to 35
  • Unemployed at the time of application
  • Must have a Grade 12 certificate
  • Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply

How to Apply

To apply, submit the following documents:

  1. Completed Z83 Form (NEW version – available at any Public Service Department or online)
  2. Updated CV
  3. Certified copies of:
    • Grade 12 Certificate
    • South African ID
    • Proof of residence (from your local municipality or a letter from your village Chief)

Be sure to:

  • Sign and date your Z83 Form
  • Indicate your preferred district and reference number clearly
  • Submit all documents before the deadline – incomplete or incorrect applications will be disqualified
