Position: Finance Officer – Management Accountant

Role Overview

As a Finance Officer – Management Accountant, you’ll be responsible for preparing detailed financial reports and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, analyzing data to drive smarter business decisions, and supporting audits. This is a pivotal role within the Finance Department and offers the opportunity to grow professionally within a purpose-driven institution.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare financial and management reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and group offices.
  • Ensure reports are submitted timely and in accordance with Central Bank regulations and internal policies.
  • Interpret financial data and provide strategic insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

2. Budgeting & Cost Monitoring

  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Guide payment officers on maintaining budgetary discipline.
  • Analyze cost trends and suggest cost-saving measures, including evaluating suppliers and service providers.

3. Month-End Closures & Reconciliations

  • Conduct detailed reconciliations for internal accounts and suspense accounts.
  • Monitor financial accuracy during month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Capture and review loan write-offs and maintain accurate ledgers for assets and liabilities.

4. Audit Support

  • Prepare and present audit-ready reports in the required format.
  • Support both internal and external audit processes.
  • Respond to inquiries from auditors and regulatory examiners.
  • Follow up on closure of audit findings.

5. Donor & Lender Reporting

  • Monitor compliance with donor covenants.
  • Prepare accurate reports for grants and lender agreements.

6. Additional Duties

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.

Qualifications & Experienc

  • CPA (T) or equivalent professional certification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in financial reporting or accounting, preferably in microfinance or banking.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and donor reporting (WV Grant accounting is a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and a high degree of integrity.
