About TANROADS

TANROADS is responsible for the maintenance and development of trunk and regional road networks across mainland Tanzania. It also oversees axle load control using weighbridge scales. Under the leadership of the Regional Manager – Morogoro, TANROADS is recruiting professionals to work on major road infrastructure projects including:

  • Kidatu-Ifakara-Lupiro-Malinyi-Kilosa Kwa Mpepo-Londo-Lumecha/Songea Road (484 KM) – Bitumen standard upgrade (Lot 1: Ifakara–Lupiro–Mtimbira, 112 KM)
  • Morogoro (Bigwa)–Mvuha Road (78 KM) upgrade including Ruvu (64m) & Mvuha (60m) Bridges
  • Ifakara–Kihansi Road (124 KM) upgrade (Lot 2: Mbingu–Chita section, 37.5 KM)

These projects will employ contract-based personnel to ensure efficiency and quality in implementation.

Available Vacancies – July 2025

1. Assistant Land Surveyor – 1 Post

Qualifications:

  • Tanzanian citizen
  • Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience

Key Duties:

  • Assist in drafting sketches, maps, and reports
  • Support data accuracy checks and site surveys
  • Record land feature dimensions and elevations
  • Aid in aerial photography planning

Employment Terms:

  • 1-year renewable contract
  • Salary: As per TANROADS scale + allowances

2. Resident Engineers – 3 Posts

Qualifications:

  • Registered Civil Engineer with a Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is an advantage
  • 12+ years of experience (3+ years in Sub-Saharan Africa)
  • At least 3 similar projects in last 10 years

Key Duties:

  • Oversee all administrative and technical site operations
  • Manage contractors, work plans, quality control, and contracts
  • Prepare reports, payment processing, and site meeting minutes
  • Ensure environmental and social compliance

Employment Terms:

  • 51 staff months contract
  • Salary: TANROADS scale + project-specific allowances

Extra Vacancies:

  • 2 more Resident Engineer roles available for either the Morogoro–Mvuha or Ifakara–Kihansi projects

3. Sociologist – 1 Post

Qualifications:

  • Tanzanian citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, or related fields
  • At least 2 years of experience

Key Duties:

  • Coordinate local community involvement in road development
  • Conduct Social Impact Assessments (SIAs)
  • Prepare resettlement plans

Employment Terms:

  • 1-year renewable contract
  • Salary: TANROADS scale + site allowances

4. Office Management Secretary – 4 Posts

Qualifications:

  • Tanzanian citizen
  • Diploma in Secretarial Studies or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience

Key Duties:

  • Manage office diaries, correspondence, and reports
  • Handle visitors and phone calls
  • Support site meetings and documentation

  • 1-year renewable contract
  • Salary: TANROADS scale + site allowances

  • 3 additional roles available for Morogoro–Mvuha and Ifakara–Kihansi road projects

5. Environmentalist – 1 Post

Qualifications:

  • Tanzanian citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies, Science, or Planning
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

Key Duties:

  • Conduct environmental impact assessments
  • Update environmental management plans
  • Research environmental best practices for roadworks

Employment Terms:

  • 1-year renewable contract
  • Salary: TANROADS scale + field allowances
