About TANROADS

Established on July 1, 2000, under the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997, TANROADS is responsible for the management, maintenance, and development of Tanzania’s Trunk and Regional Road Network, as well as the construction of airports across the mainland. The agency plays a key role in overseeing quality control, safety, environmental measures, and the implementation of strategic policies in the road sector.

Iringa Municipal Bypass Project – Jobs Available

TANROADS Iringa is now recruiting staff for the construction of the Iringa Municipal Bypass (7.3 km) under Contract No. TR36/005/2023/2024/W/58. All positions are 12-month contracts and open to Tanzanian citizens only.

1. Senior Engineer – Materials (1 Position)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Highway, Transportation, or Structural Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Must be registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer.
  • Age: Below 45 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise laboratory testing and enforce QA/QC protocols.
  • Approve materials and inspect work for compliance.
  • Prepare daily technical and materials reports.
  • Advise the Resident Engineer on materials application and quality control.

2. Works Inspector – Road Works (1 Position)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of road construction experience.
  • ERB registration as Graduate or Professional Engineer.
  • Age: Below 45 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect contractor activities, especially earthworks.
  • Keep accurate daily work records.
  • Authorize in-situ work and issue instructions.
  • Report to the Highway Engineer.

3. Senior Topographical Surveyor (1 Position)

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying.
  • Registered Land Surveyor.
  • 6+ years of road design and surveying experience.
  • 3 years minimum working experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Age: Below 45 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct surveys, establish boundaries, and prepare maps.
  • Ensure data accuracy and coordinate with engineers.
  • Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments.
  • Research legal documents and survey records.

4. CAD Technician (1 Position)

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Civil or Highway Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • CAD certification required.
  • Age: Below 45 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and revise road/bridge design drawings.
  • Work closely with design teams using CAD software.
  • Maintain design version control.
  • Present drafts and make improvements as required.

5. Office Secretary (1 Position)

Qualifications:

  • Certificate in Secretarial Services.
  • National Form IV/VI Certificate.
  • At least 3 years of clerical or secretarial experience.
  • Age: Below 45 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the office diary and telephone calls.
  • Handle visitors and maintain document records.
  • Take meeting minutes and perform general typing duties.
