About the EACOP Poultry Production Program

This program falls under the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Livelihood Restoration Program – Poultry Services (LRP-4). It covers 231 villages across 8 regions and aims to:

  • Improve and diversify household incomes
  • Enhance food security and nutrition
  • Support small-scale, sustainable poultry production
  • Empower vulnerable groups and project-affected households (PAHs)

Available Positions

1. Field Officers – Community Relations (6 Positions)

Duty Stations: Kahama, Igunga, Nzega, Kondoa, Singida, Iramba, Mkalama, Chemba

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with communities, leaders, and stakeholders
  • Train households in entrepreneurship and poultry management
  • Mobilize households into groups for training and support
  • Ensure support reaches vulnerable households
  • Collect, analyze, and report project data
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and community awareness

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development, or related fields
  • Strong stakeholder engagement & communication skills
  • Fluency in English, Kiswahili, and local languages (Maa, Kisukuma, Taturu)

2. Field Officers – Poultry Production (14 Positions)

Duty Stations: Assigned zones within Kahama, Igunga, Nzega, Kondoa, Singida, Iramba, Mkalama, Chemba

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-the-ground extension and advisory services
  • Conduct farm visits, poultry disease diagnosis, and problem-solving
  • Train households in poultry housing, feeding, and biosecurity
  • Support input distribution (chicks, vaccines, feed, equipment)
  • Mobilize farmers into poultry producer groups
  • Facilitate access to markets and input suppliers
  • Collect field data, success stories, and performance reports

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s in Animal Health, Livestock Production, or related fields
  • Hands-on experience with poultry farming and rural households
  • Strong facilitation, training, and community mobilization skills
  • Excellent communication in English, Kiswahili, and local languages

Skills & Competencies Needed

  • Strong project management and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently in rural/remote areas
  • Knowledge of poultry production, entrepreneurship, and group strengthening
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards

Terms of Engagement

  • Type: Consultancy (paid per agreed day rate)
  • Duration: Initially 11 months (subject to performance)
  • Work Conditions: Frequent travel, outdoor fieldwork, occasional weekends/extended hours
