The Regional Manager of TANROADS Shinyanga, on behalf of the Chief Executive, now invites applications for two contract-based positions. Available Positions
1. Environmentalist – 1 Post
Entry Qualifications
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science and Management, Environmental Planning and Management, Geography and Environmental Studies, or related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and monitor the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (C-ESMP) to ensure compliance with the Project’s Environmental Management Plan (EMP).
- Verify permits, licenses, and approvals while keeping track of legislative changes.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments, site evaluations, and due diligence.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Supervise environmental mitigation measures including pollution control, waste management, and resource conservation.
- Monitor waste handling, recycling practices, and hazardous material disposal.
- Track and address environmental or social grievances under the established grievance redress mechanism.
- Prepare and review progress reports on environmental compliance.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
2. Sociologist – 1 Post
Entry Qualifications
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Sociology, Guidance and Counseling, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of working experience in a relevant area.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (C-ESMP) to ensure compliance with the Social Management Plan (EMP).
- Oversee the implementation of the Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) and other social management activities.
- Establish and implement a Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM).
- Coordinate community engagement and participation in the project.
- Monitor and evaluate Social Impact Assessments (SIA) to mitigate risks.
- Liaise with institutions and stakeholders on social issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Terms of Service
- Contract Duration: One year (renewable depending on project progress).
- Remuneration: Salary based on the TANROADS salary scale, with site allowances according to the TANROADS Incentive Policy.
- Work Location: Successful applicants must be prepared to work in Kahama District, where the project is being implemented.
