Transforming Dairy for a Better Future: Job Opportunities in Tanzania’s Smart Smallholder Dairy Project, The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (GoT) have launched an ambitious initiative — the Smart Smallholder Dairy Transformation Project (C-SDTP). Designed to boost the livelihoods of rural communities, this project focuses on improving the dairy value chain, increasing food safety, promoting environmental sustainability, and enhancing the resilience of smallholder farmers. IFAD Various New Vacancies October 2025, With a target of 140,000 households (around 700,000 people) — including 40% women and 30% youth — the project is set to bring lasting impact to the Tanzanian dairy sector.

Project Coverage Areas

C-SDTP will be implemented across multiple regions of Tanzania:

  • Mbeya: Rungwe DC, Mbeya DC, Busokelo DC
  • Iringa: Mufindi DC, Kilolo DC, Iringa DC
  • Njombe: Njombe DC, Njombe TC, Wanging’ombe DC
  • Tanga: Lushoto DC, Muheza DC, Mkinga DC
  • Morogoro: Mvomero DC, Morogoro DC, Kilosa DC
  • Arusha: Meru DC, Arusha DC
  • Kilimanjaro: Siha DC, Moshi DC
  • Pwani/Coast: Rufiji DC, Mkuranga DC
  • Zanzibar-Unguja: West A, West B, Central, North A, North B, South
  • Pemba: North, South

The program is managed by the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries (MLF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Planning, the Vice President’s Office (VPO), PO-RALG, and the First Vice President’s Office in Zanzibar. The private sector and farmers’ organizations will also play a crucial role.

Job Vacancies at the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries – Supported by IFAD

The Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill the following positions under the C-SDTP. All roles are based at the Project Coordination Office (PCO) in Dodoma unless otherwise stated.

1. Project Accountant – PCO Dodoma

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with donor and GoT financial regulations
  • Manage payments, budgets, and financial audits
  • Oversee tax matters and secure exemptions/refunds

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; CPA/ACCA is an added advantage
  • At least 5 years’ experience in donor-funded financial management
  • Strong computer and accounting software skills

2. Nutrition Specialist – PCO Dodoma

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the project’s nutrition agenda and education campaigns
  • Promote safe milk processing and consumption
  • Develop SBCC (Social Behavior Change Communication) materials
  • Support nutrition education in schools and farmer field schools

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Nutrition or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in SBCC and nutrition programs
  • Strong skills in behavior change theory and multimedia campaign development

3. Knowledge Management & Communications Specialist – PCO Dodoma

Responsibilities:

  • Document and share project lessons and success stories
  • Develop knowledge products (briefs, videos, reports)
  • Strengthen project visibility through media and digital platforms
  • Coordinate with IFAD-supported projects for portfolio-level knowledge sharing

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field; Master’s preferred
  • At least 3 years’ experience in knowledge management for development projects
  • Strong writing, media engagement, and digital communication skills

4. Information Technology (IT) Specialist – PCO Dodoma

Responsibilities:

  • Lead digital transformation of dairy sector systems
  • Support MIS upgrades for farmer registries, payments, and reporting
  • Ensure data protection, compliance, and systems integration
  • Provide technical support for procurement and vendor management

Qualifications:

  • University degree in ICT/Information Systems; Master’s preferred
  • 8+ years’ relevant ICT experience (systems rollout, data governance, vendor management)
  • Strong knowledge of APIs, data visualization, and ICT tools

5. Administrative Secretary – PCO Dodoma

Responsibilities:

  • Manage office communication, schedules, and correspondence
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and missions
  • Maintain project records and documentation
  • Provide logistical support for events and staff travel

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Secretarial Studies, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in administrative roles (donor-funded projects preferred)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

6. Drivers – PCO Dodoma

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and timely transportation for project staff and partners
  • Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and record-keeping
  • Support project operations through logistics and deliveries

Qualifications:

  • Secondary education (Form IV/VI or equivalent)
  • Valid clean driving license (classes C1–D) and 5+ years’ experience
  • Advanced Drivers’ Certificate is an added advantage
