Job Title: Program Manager (Tanzania)

Location: Baraka Village, Monduli District
Organization: Amani Initiatives

About the Role

The Program Manager will lead Amani Foundation’s operations in Tanzania, overseeing the implementation of our Live-Out and Livelihood Programs that support over 50 children and their caregivers across Monduli District. This leadership role reports to the Amani Foundation Director and works closely with the local board to ensure high-quality program delivery, reporting, and collaboration with government and community stakeholders.

This position is ideal for a proactive, early-career leader eager to make a tangible difference and help expand the impact of Amani Initiatives across Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Coordination & Implementation (40%)

  • Lead daily operations across departments, ensuring smooth execution of activities and adherence to organizational policies.
  • Supervise both the Live-Out team (education and psychosocial support) and the Livelihoods team (agriculture and livestock programs).
  • Ensure all programs are effectively implemented, monitored, and documented.
  • Plan and lead community events, training sessions, data collection, and family seminars that promote visibility and strengthen program outcomes.

2. Community Engagement & Partnership Building (30%)

  • Act as Amani’s liaison with government officials, schools, and community leaders to foster collaboration around child welfare.
  • Represent Amani professionally in local and national forums, preparing impact reports and advocacy documents.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, faith leaders, and service providers to support family resilience and education access.

3. Administration, Compliance & Reporting (20%)

  • Manage financial and program documentation in coordination with the finance team, maintaining transparent and audit-ready records.
  • Produce monthly narrative and data-driven reports with visuals that reflect progress and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, legal, and organizational policies, including NSSF and TRA requirements.
  • Coordinate annual staff training on ethics, safety, and child protection.

4. Grantsmanship & Organizational Growth (10%)

  • Support grant writing and proposal development by providing accurate field data and impact stories.
  • Identify and summarize new funding opportunities (RFPs, CSR initiatives) and build relationships with potential partners and donors.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in program management within education, child welfare, or community development.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and reporting skills in both English and Swahili.
  • Experience working with local government and schools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and digital data management tools.
  • High integrity with a solid understanding of safeguarding principles.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience managing donor-funded programs or small-grant projects.
  • Familiarity with rural Tanzanian communities, especially Monduli District.
  • Basic photography or storytelling skills for reporting and communications.

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Full-time (approx. 40 hours per week).
  • Frequent field travel across Monduli and Karatu Districts.
  • Occasional evening or weekend commitments.
  • Three-month probation at 50% salary; renewal based on performance and funding.

Compensation & Reporting

  • Salary: Approx. $3,414.6 (USD) annually (700,000 TZS/month, inclusive of benefits).
  • Reports to: Amani Foundation Director
