Position: Senior Manager Recovery
This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the recovery of non-performing assets (NPAs) and managing the bank’s Recovery Unit. The role entails strategic planning, risk mitigation, staff supervision, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory frameworks while preserving client relationships and minimizing losses. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise the daily collection of delinquent accounts.
- Lead and manage debt collectors and auctioneers for optimized recovery efforts.
- Take over and manage impaired or high-risk accounts from portfolio officers in a structured manner.
- Conduct thorough financial and legal due diligence on non-performing transactions.
- Identify, assess, and report risks, recommending actions that safeguard the bank’s interests.
- Ensure strict compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Develop strategic recovery plans, including decisions on loss realization and asset release.
- Engage with clients in default to structure realistic and affordable repayment plans.
- Set and achieve recovery targets contributing to overall financial performance.
- Develop annual departmental plans and budgets in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to client protection principles and high customer service standards.
- Report internal control issues and work closely with the Risk & Compliance department.
- Lead and mentor recovery officers and ensure departmental performance targets are met.
- Facilitate training, coaching, and professional development of team members.
Candidate Profile
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, Banking, or related field.
- A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 7 years in banking, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record in managing complex loan recovery portfolios.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in balancing diverse business objectives and delivering informed decisions.
- Expertise in credit risk management and recovery legal frameworks.
- Ability to generate actionable insights through data and reporting.
- High level of integrity, motivation, and professionalism.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
