Job Responsibilities

As an Assistant Environmental Health Officer II, your core responsibilities will include:

  1. Preventing and Controlling Disease Outbreaks – Monitor and respond to public health threats.
  2. Pest and Vector Control – Fight against insects and animals that spread diseases.
  3. Oversee Proper Burial Practices – Ensure safe burial of unidentified or infectious disease victims.
  4. Compile and Submit Health Reports – Gather and deliver health environment reports at ward level.
  5. Data Collection & Analysis – Monitor environmental health statistics and provide feedback for action.
  6. Public Health Education – Promote environmental hygiene awareness within communities.
  7. Inspect Food Production Areas – Guarantee hygiene and safety standards in food preparation spaces.
  8. Enforce Health Regulations – Implement and assist with by-law creation in the community.
  9. Promote Clean Water and Sanitation – Encourage community engagement in improving water sources and hygiene.
  10. Support Primary Health Services – Advocate for improved delivery of health services at ward level.
  11. Other Related Duties – Perform tasks as assigned by superiors, in line with your training and experience.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must possess:

  • A Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences from a government-recognized institution.
  • Registration with the Environmental Health Practitioners Council (Bodi ya Wataalamu wa Afya Mazingira).
