Key Responsibilities
1. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization
- Lead the implementation of a comprehensive fundraising strategy across Africa in alignment with global teams such as GFOI, individual giving, and global fundraising networks.
- Develop high-quality proposals, grant applications, and donor reports to secure funding.
- Support national offices through capacity building in proposal writing and grant acquisition.
2. Partnership Engagement and External Representation
- Build and nurture strategic partnerships with governments, NGOs, private sector players, and development agencies.
- Develop regional and national partnership frameworks (MOUs) that add measurable value to Habitat’s programs.
- Represent Habitat for Humanity Africa in external forums, ensuring visibility and strong stakeholder relationships.
- Collaborate with the communications team to effectively amplify Habitat’s impact through media and digital platforms.
3. Policy and Advocacy
- Drive the Africa Region Advocacy Strategy Framework to influence housing policies that align with national priorities.
- Engage with governments, policymakers, and stakeholders to promote inclusive access to decent housing.
- Lead advocacy campaigns, policy dialogues, and global forums in collaboration with international teams.
4. Volunteer Engagement
- Develop and implement a Comprehensive Volunteer Engagement Strategy for the Africa region.
- Build systems to recruit, train, and retain volunteers, integrating them into Habitat’s mission.
- Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions to strengthen long-term relationships.
5. Strategic Leadership
- Oversee budgets and resources dedicated to fundraising, partnerships, and advocacy.
- Track and report on progress, providing updates to senior leadership and global fundraising teams.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team to deliver impactful results.
6. Global Collaboration
- Align regional fundraising and advocacy activities with Habitat for Humanity’s global strategies.
- Work closely with the communications department to ensure consistent messaging and storytelling.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years relevant experience or a Master’s degree in international relations, international development, public relations, business administration, project management, or sustainable development.
- Professional certification in fundraising, resource mobilization, or policy advocacy is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in fundraising, partnerships, advocacy, or related areas.
- Strong track record in managing partnerships with governments, donors, private sector, and community organizations.
- Proven leadership in managing teams and delivering global or multi-country fundraising strategies.
