Following a successful pilot of the cross-subsidy model, BETL is now scaling its Angaza Academy Affiliate model, empowering local Head Caregivers to independently run BETL-registered centers. Position: Technology and Operations Support Intern
Location: Dar es Salaam
Application Deadline: 17th October 2025
This internship is ideal for graduates interested in the intersection of technology, operations, and social impact. You will support day-to-day operational tasks, strengthen systems, and ensure tools and workflows promote high performance while adhering to data privacy and child protection standards.
Education Requirements
- Graduate in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field with a focus on tech-enabled operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review & Strengthen Tech Solutions
- Assess the viability of existing apps and benchmark alternative tools.
- Research and prototype scalable tools (spreadsheets, templates, lightweight platforms) to enhance affiliate and central operations.
2. Streamline Systems & Support Functions
- Document, map, and simplify workflows for training, finance, affiliate communication, and central support functions.
- Design tools that reduce duplication, minimize errors, and simplify adoption by affiliates and staff.
3. Data Management & Decision Support
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, integrating, and analyzing data for tools such as Skills Development Tool, BEQI, finance trackers, and compliance reports.
- Ensure all data usage complies with Tanzanian law, including the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) 2022.
4. Affiliate & Staff Engagement
- Support affiliates and staff in adopting new systems, tools, and protocols.
- Collect user feedback and iterate systems to improve usability.
- Assist in documentation, reporting, and cross-team coordination.
5. Safeguarding & Compliance
- Embed child protection and safeguarding requirements into all systems and processes.
- Monitor and document compliance with BETL’s safeguarding policies.
- Support training for staff and affiliates on protocols and reporting.
6. Other Potential Tasks
- Update daycare center locations on Google Maps.
- Explore GIS-based solutions to support data-driven decisions for expansion.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Recent graduate in IT, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong interest in technology, operations, and social impact.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with digital tools and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn.
