Why CHAN 2024 Needs You
As CHAN continues to grow in prestige and scale, multilingual communication has become essential. To ensure seamless interaction between players, officials, and global media, CAF is setting up a dedicated database of professional interpreters.
We’re calling on freelance conference interpreters fluent in: French, English, Arabic, Portuguese, Swahili, Your voice will be the bridge between cultures, fostering connection and clarity at press conferences, meetings, and side events during the final stages of CHAN 2024.
Scope of Work
Successful applicants will:
- Deliver simultaneous or consecutive interpretation during official CHAN activities.
- Facilitate multilingual communication at press briefings, team meetings, and event-related sessions.
- Represent CAF’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and professionalism on an international stage.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Educational Background
- A recognized diploma in conference interpreting.
Language Proficiency
- At least one of the official CHAN languages (French, English, Arabic, Portuguese, Swahili) as your primary (A) language. CAF CHAN 2024 Conference interpreters Vacancies May 2025
- A second working language (B language) among the five listed above.
Location & Residency
- Must reside professionally in Kenya, Tanzania, or Uganda.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with football or sports terminology is a strong advantage.
Skills You’ll Need
- Strong passive listening and accurate interpretation skills.
- Ability to construct coherent, culturally appropriate sentences.
- Excellent diction, control of register, and attention to style.
- Capacity to keep pace with fast speakers and think on your feet.
- Willingness to travel, adapt, and continuously learn.
Consultancy Duration
- A one-month contract will be awarded to selected interpreters.
- Duration covers the final stage of CHAN 2024.
