About the EACOP Project

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a major transnational energy infrastructure project jointly developed by:

  • Total Exploration and Development Uganda Limited (TEPU)
  • CNOOC Uganda Limited (CUL)
  • Government of Uganda

The pipeline system includes:

  • 6 Pumping Stations (PS-1 to PS-6)
  • 2 Pressure Reducing Stations (PRS-1 and PRS-2)
  • Heated export pipelines, HV distribution systems, fiber optic cables, and offshore storage terminals

CPP plays a central role in delivering this project safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

Job Overview – Technician Roles

Technicians will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems along the pipeline and Above Ground Installations (AGIs).

Key duties include:

  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems
  • Handling HV, MV, and LV cables, including testing and safety procedures
  • Performing earthing works and lightning protection installations
  • Inspecting, repairing, and replacing damaged wiring, equipment, or systems
  • Conducting safety checks and ensuring compliance with HSE policies
  • Maintaining accurate logs and reports of all maintenance activities

Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • Education: Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering (or related technical field)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years in industrial, oil & gas, or heavy equipment operations
    • Pipeline or high-pressure systems experience is an added advantage
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Strong teamwork and communication skills
    • Proactive, safety-first approach
    • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments
