Job Purpose
The Communication and Advocacy Specialist will spearhead the development and implementation of the organization’s communication and advocacy strategies. This includes managing internal and external communications, enhancing public visibility, and supporting stakeholder engagement through digital and traditional platforms. The Specialist will also build the advocacy capacity of staff and partners to amplify ECSA-HC’s mission across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute a comprehensive communications and advocacy strategy aligned with ECSA-HC’s mission and goals.
- Enhance visibility and branding by producing high-quality content, including press releases, policy briefs, fact sheets, bulletins, and multimedia materials.
- Coordinate with media houses and journalists to ensure accurate coverage of ECSA-HC activities.
- Document and share knowledge from high-level meetings and technical sessions.
- Manage online platforms including the ECSA-HC website and social media channels.
- Support the organization of advocacy events, campaigns, and knowledge-sharing forums.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder contact databases to enhance outreach and engagement.
- Prepare speeches, media statements, and reports for senior leadership.
- Build internal capacity in communication, documentation, and advocacy.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Undergraduate and Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or International Relations.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience (post-Master’s) in communication and advocacy roles, preferably in a regional or international setting.
- Proven experience in media relations, public health communication, and digital engagement.
- Demonstrated success in managing social media and online content.
- Strong editorial, writing, and visual storytelling abilities.
- Familiarity with health and development issues in the region is a strong advantage.
