Since 1983, HJF has partnered with military, medical, academic, and government institutions, providing vital program management, administrative expertise, and research support. In Tanzania, HJFMRI plays a key role in implementing public health programs with a focus on HIV/AIDS, PEPFAR-supported services, and other critical healthcare interventions.
Key Responsibilities
As Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing creative, data-driven communication strategies that engage stakeholders, raise awareness, and support program objectives. Your role will include:
- Creating press releases, newsletters, media kits, and high-quality content that promotes HJFMRI’s mission.
- Designing and executing communication strategies for events, new services, and campaigns.
- Managing and updating HJFMRI Tanzania’s social media platforms and website with engaging content.
- Developing IEC/SBCC materials to support health programs and community initiatives.
- Coordinating with U.S.-based HJF teams to ensure alignment with global branding and strategy.
- Leading crisis communications and preparing detailed media activity reports.
- Supervising communications projects and ensuring timely delivery of publication-ready content.
- Planning and managing VIP interactions and external-facing events.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, creativity, and proven communication expertise. Applicants should demonstrate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Excellent command of both English and Kiswahili (written and spoken).
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and design skills.
- Expertise in social media management, content creation, and digital media trends.
- Project management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Experience working in public health programs, preferably with knowledge of PEPFAR services.
