Credit Risk Manager – Retail Banking

Location: Tanzania

As Credit Risk Manager, you will take charge of credit-risk management for the Bank’s Personal and Micro-Retail portfolio. This includes overseeing unsecured salary-deduction loans, secured personal loans, and group-based lending. Your leadership will be instrumental in safeguarding the bank’s assets while supporting customer access to financial solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce product-specific credit policies for personal banking and microfinance loans.
  • Lead risk assessments for new employer/scheme agreements and product changes; present recommendations to the Credit Committee.
  • Approve or decline credit applications within your authority and escalate as necessary with well-documented analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with both internal credit policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and manage the micro-credit portfolio to prevent loan defaults or deterioration.
  • Review and recommend accounts for restructuring or write-offs.
  • Maintain accurate loan system administration and documentation.
  • Prepare regular performance reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
  • Reconcile employer payroll files with treasury inputs before system uploads.
  • Check disbursed loans against set product criteria for exceptions and follow-ups.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields (Master’s degree is an added advantage).
  • 5–8 years of experience in credit risk assessment, portfolio management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.

Reconciliation Manager

Location: Tanzania

As Reconciliation Manager, you’ll oversee the end-to-end reconciliation of financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all banking operations. Your role will involve leading a team, improving controls, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to support innovation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, ledgers, payment systems, and third-party transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve variances between internal records and external data.
  • Enhance reconciliation systems and controls to mitigate financial risk.
  • Lead and coach a high-performing reconciliation team.
  • Partner with IT, Finance, and Compliance teams to support seamless process improvements.
  • Generate and present exception reports to senior leadership.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to both internal controls and regulatory compliance frameworks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years in financial reconciliation within a financial institution.
  • Strong leadership and team management background.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking operations, payment systems, and compliance requirements.
