Position Summary

The Field Manager plays a pivotal role in the execution of IPA’s research activities. This position is responsible for planning, supervising, and monitoring field operations, ensuring data collection meets IPA’s rigorous standards while maintaining compliance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations Monitoring & Compliance

  • Oversee all field activities, ensuring strict adherence to IPA’s data-quality protocols and safety standards.
  • Ensure field procedures comply with regulatory, organizational, and ethical guidelines.

Field Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, manage, and motivate field officers to ensure timely and high-quality data collection.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture, track performance, and take corrective action when necessary.

Planning & Risk Management

  • Design fieldwork plans, schedule activities, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Identify risks and resolve operational challenges swiftly to maintain project momentum.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Compile accurate reports detailing progress, challenges, and key insights from the field.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of field operations for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Sociology, Community Development, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a field supervisor or in a similar leadership role.
  • Strong team management skills and ability to guide field teams effectively.
  • Proficient in both Swahili and English (written and verbal).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage communities and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in challenging field environments.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience using SurveyCTO and Stata.
  • Familiarity with digital data collection tools (e.g., tablets).
  • Proven ability to work in diverse, multicultural environments.

  • Strong situational awareness and multitasking abilities.
