About the Project
The Field Officer will play a key role in the Green Tanzania Cookstove Programme, which aims to improve livelihoods and protect the environment by introducing improved cookstoves to rural households.
Project Goals:
- Distribute 26,000 improved cookstoves across 30 villages in Kongwa District.
- Reduce firewood and charcoal use by up to 70%.
- Combat deforestation and lower carbon emissions.
- Improve community health by reducing smoke-related respiratory risks.
- Promote tree planting and contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as poverty reduction, health, gender equality, and ecosystem conservation.
Key Responsibilities
As a Field Officer, you will work under the guidance of the Project Coordinator and Country Representative. Your main duties include:
- Supporting the implementation of project activities at the community level.
- Coordinating distribution and logistics of improved cookstoves.
- Engaging with local communities through sensitization campaigns, training, and awareness events.
- Conducting regular field visits to monitor project progress and collect data.
- Preparing reports and updating project information systems.
- Building strong relationships with village representatives, government officials, and stakeholders.
- Addressing field challenges with practical solutions.
- Performing any additional duties assigned by the Project Coordinator.
Required Skills & Competencies

- Independent and well-organized, with excellent teamwork spirit.
- Effective communication, reporting, and digital data collection skills.
- Problem-solving mindset and sensitivity to gender equality issues.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, candidates must have:
- A degree or diploma in Community Development, Environmental Studies, Monitoring & Evaluation, Data Collection, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of professional experience as a Field Officer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili (report writing required).
- Strong digital literacy (smartphones, apps, and data tools).
- A valid driving license (cars and motorcycles).
- Tanzanian citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates from Kongwa District or those with prior experience in the area.
Added Advantage (Preferred):
- Relevant short courses or professional certificates.
- Previous work with international NGOs or donor-funded projects.
