Role Overview
As the Financial Control Officer, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing key financial data and trends, supporting strategic decisions, and ensuring that operations align with both internal policies and external regulatory frameworks. Your focus will span across budgeting, procurement, cost control, and collaboration with departments to enhance overall financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly reports, including Branch Performance, Departmental Expenditure (OPEX), Industry Analysis, Non-Performing Loans (NPL), and shareholder updates.
- Support the preparation of Board presentations with deep-dive financial data and insights.
Cost & Revenue Management
- Monitor and analyze operational costs and revenue trends regularly.
- Ensure operational costs align with budgets and uncover any areas of revenue leakage from bank fees and commissions.
Procurement Compliance
- Actively oversee and support the procurement process in accordance with bank policies.
- Coordinate tender openings and evaluations, while pre-authorizing supplier engagements to ensure cost-effectiveness.
Budget Coordination
- Lead the bank’s annual budgeting cycle by compiling departmental budgets into a cohesive master file.
- Collaborate with the Chief Accountant to finalize budget drafts and ensure input collection across departments.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with the Risk and Compliance team to review IFRS 9 ECL model impairments for monthly management accounts.
- Offer guidance to department heads on efficient budget usage and compliance.
Expenditure Oversight
- Review all expenditure requests for policy adherence and budget availability before management approval.
Team Engagement
- Foster a collaborative working environment by maintaining strong, respectful relationships with team members across departments.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional Advantage: CPA/ACCA qualification (completed or in progress) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in a similar finance-related role.
- Tech Skills: Strong Excel and PowerPoint abilities are highly desirable.
- Personal Traits: A bold thinker with excellent analytical and reasoning skills, eager to learn and contribute meaningfully.
