Your Purpose in This Role
As Fundraising Manager, you will be the driving force behind RCA’s income expansion. This is a unique opportunity to lead strategic fundraising initiatives, diversify income streams, manage donor relations, and support life-saving programmes for children across Tanzania and East Africa. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director and other key departments to shape and execute sustainable fundraising growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Fundraising & Donor Management
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
- Maintain and expand current donor base, including trusts, grants, and corporate partnerships.
- Build a robust pipeline of fundraising prospects.
- Coordinate the preparation of compelling funding proposals and ensure timely donor reporting.
- Align fundraising opportunities with project needs.
2. Leadership & Team Capacity Building
- Mentor and guide programme staff in fundraising best practices.
- Develop internal capacity for sustainable income generation.
- Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and innovation.
3. Corporate Sponsorship Growth
- Create and execute strategies to expand corporate fundraising.
- Engage SME and large business partnerships.
- Act as an ambassador to elevate RCA’s local and national profile.
4. Income Diversification
- Explore and implement new fundraising channels such as events and individual giving.
- Lead the development of business cases for income sustainability.
- Cultivate relationships with key donors to maximize long-term impact.
General Duties
- Uphold RCA’s safeguarding, child protection, and Code of Conduct policies.
- Support organizational planning and communication.
- Travel to field sites when needed.
- Undertake tasks assigned by the Executive Director.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience in leading successful fundraising campaigns within NGOs.
- Strong background with major institutional donors (USAID, FCDO, EU, CDC, etc.).
- Track record of developing high-value proposals and meeting income targets.
- Excellent communication and donor engagement skills.
- Background in international development and working with vulnerable populations is an asset.
Skills & Knowledge
- Creative problem-solving and strategic thinking.
- Strong understanding of the East African donor and NGO landscape.
- Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
- Deep understanding of the challenges facing children at risk in Tanzania.
