Position: HESQ Manager (Health, Environment, Safety & Quality)

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

As the HESQ Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing health, environment, safety, and quality operations across Yara Tanzania, Yara Rwanda, and Yara Zambia. This role ensures compliance with international standards while driving continuous improvement in safety culture, environmental sustainability, and product stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive performance by focusing on leading HESQ indicators aligned with Yara’s global targets.
  • Support management in ensuring compliance with company procedures and international standards.
  • Implement and monitor Safe By Choice strategies across operations.
  • Conduct systematic inspections to maintain operational discipline.
  • Train local teams on HESQ systems such as risk assessments, Synergi, and accident investigation methods.
  • Ensure the company achieves and maintains certifications such as IFA certification.
  • Lead and motivate teams in delivering HESQ initiatives across multiple countries.

Candidate Profile

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A University Degree in Business, Engineering, or Environmental Studies.
  • HESQ certification from an internationally recognized institution (e.g., NEBOSH).
  • At least 5 years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial or multinational environment.

Additional Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Tanzanian legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and construction regulations.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
