Position Summary: House Manager
Position Type: Full-Time (45 hours/week)
Salary Range: TSh 2.5 – 3 million/month (Negotiable based on experience)
Work Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Note: This is not a U.S. Embassy employee position.
Who Can Apply?
This position is open to Ordinarily Resident (OR) applicants who already possess the required work and/or residency permits for Tanzania. Applicants must be eligible for legal employment within the country.
Core Responsibilities
As the House Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of two official residences. You will manage household personnel, handle procurement and logistics, and ensure that all administrative and maintenance tasks are completed efficiently. Your responsibilities include:
- Supervising and leading household staff, setting work goals, and managing performance.
- Managing payroll and leave records for domestic personnel.
- Budgeting and maintaining accurate financial records, including receipts and expenses for household operations and official events.
- Procuring and inventorying food, beverages, supplies, furniture, and residential equipment.
- Acting as liaison for coordination with the U.S. Embassy Protocol Office and other departments.
- Overseeing arrangements for official receptions, visits, ceremonies, and representational events.
- Supporting logistics, maintenance coordination, and scheduling of repairs with embassy services.
- Performing additional duties as required by the employer.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field (preferred).
Experience
- At least five years of progressive experience in hotel, restaurant, or office management.
- Minimum three years in a supervisory role.
Language & Communication
- Fluent in both English and Kiswahili, spoken and written.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Comfortable with email communications and basic data management.
Additional Competencies
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Professional discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Valid Tanzanian driver’s license (preferred but not required).
