Reporting to: Human Resource Manager
Location: Arusha

Key Responsibilities

As an HR Officer at NEWL, you will play a vital role in managing HR operations and ensuring compliance with company policies and labor regulations. Your main duties will include:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Support recruitment through job postings, candidate screening, and interviews.
  • Organize onboarding and orientation for new hires.
  • Maintain job descriptions and organizational charts.

Employee Relations & Welfare

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee HR inquiries.
  • Support grievance resolution and disciplinary procedures.
  • Oversee staff exit processes including clearance and exit interviews.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture with employee engagement activities.

HR Records & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate employee records in both digital and physical formats.
  • Ensure HR processes comply with labor laws and internal policies.
  • Prepare reports for audits, compliance reviews, and assessments.

Performance Management

  • Support performance appraisals and KPI tracking.
  • Assist with employee development and performance improvement plans.

Training & Development

  • Coordinate training sessions, schedules, and logistics.
  • Track training records and support identification of staff training needs.

Benefits Administration

  • Manage staff leave, medical insurance, and other welfare programs.
  • Process employee-related payments.

HR Information Systems (HRIS)

  • Manage employee registration and movements in HR systems.
  • Generate HR system reports and track biometric attendance.

Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ)

  • Comply with SHEQ standards across all assigned tasks.
  • Report near misses, hazards, and incidents as per company policy.
  • Ensure PPE usage, waste disposal, vehicle inspections, and safety reporting.
  • Cooperate with SHEQ teams during investigations and audits.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of HR processes, labor laws, and compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Tech-savvy with experience in HRIS and digital HR processes.
