Internship Position 1: Research Officer (Intern in Biostatistics)
Location: Ifakara
Reporting To: Project Leader / Principal Investigator

Position Overview
The selected intern will join the MSMT2 project team and receive hands-on training in biostatistics and data science, contributing to Tanzania’s efforts to combat malaria. This is a unique opportunity to build strong foundational skills in data analysis, statistical computing, and research reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and implement data management protocols of the MSMT2 project
- Support cleaning, preprocessing, and analysis of biomedical datasets
- Apply statistical models (e.g., regression, survival analysis)
- Utilize tools such as R, STATA, Python, or SAS
- Develop skills in scientific writing, presentation, and research communication
- Participate in team meetings, journal clubs, and research discussions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related fields (obtained within the last 24 months)
- GPA of 3.8 or higher
- Knowledge or interest in bioinformatics or statistical modeling is an added advantage
Required Skills
- Critical thinking, time management, teamwork
- Good verbal and written communication (English and Kiswahili)
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Internship Position 2: Research Officer (Intern in Genomics & Bioinformatics)
Location: Dar es Salaam
Reporting To: Project Leader / Principal Investigator

Job Type: Full-time
Position Overview
The intern will receive training in genomics and bioinformatics, assisting in laboratory work, sample processing, and data analysis. The goal is to build capacity in molecular surveillance and support malaria elimination strategies in Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with sample collection, processing, and lab data recording
- Follow Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP) and SOPs
- Perform genomic data analysis and ensure data quality and storage
- Maintain lab equipment and ensure adherence to safety protocols
- Participate in research discussions, manuscript writing, and presentations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology, or Biotechnology (within the last 24 months)
- GPA of 3.8 or above
- Experience in genomics or molecular techniques is an added advantage
