In an inspiring move to equip young Tanzanians with vital life skills, the National Service Force (JKT) has officially opened its doors to students who have completed primary school education. The training, offered at the renowned JKT College in Mgulani, aims to empower youth with practical vocational skills that prepare them to face real-world challenges with confidence.
This initiative was announced on Saturday, July 5, 2025, by Colonel Shija Lupi, the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service’s Production Corporation (SUMA JKT), during the ongoing 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), popularly known as Sabasaba.
Life Skills for a Brighter Future
Speaking at the event, Colonel Lupi emphasized that JKT is committed to youth development and national progress. He noted that the training is open to all youth starting from Standard Seven leavers and above, aiming to build their capacity through hands-on vocational education.b“Our goal is to empower young people with skills that will not only help them survive but thrive in today’s competitive environment,” said Colonel Lupi. “These skills include various trades that open doors to employment and self-reliance.”
Innovation in Aquaculture: Fish Farming Using Tanks
One of the highlights drawing public attention at the SUMA JKT booth is an innovative fish farming technology that uses tanks instead of traditional ponds. The method is particularly attractive for urban dwellers and those with limited space.
