Job Overview
As a Logistics Officer at Action Against Hunger, you will play a vital role in supporting humanitarian programs by managing procurement, transport, warehouse operations, fleet, assets, and facility logistics. You’ll ensure full compliance with internal policies, donor requirements, and national regulations—keeping operations smooth, safe, and effective.
Key Responsibilities
1. Procurement & Supply Chain Management
- Process procurement requests in line with policy and donor guidelines.
- Maintain supplier databases and manage vendor contracts.
- Ensure timely, competitive, and transparent procurement.
2. Fleet & Transport Management
- Plan and track vehicle usage across field operations.
- Monitor fuel, repairs, servicing, and driver performance.
- Ensure safety standards are met in all transport operations.
3. Asset & Inventory Management
- Register and track organizational assets across locations.
- Conduct physical verifications and ensure loss/damage reporting.
- Coordinate disposal of obsolete or damaged equipment.
4. Warehouse & Stock Management
- Supervise incoming/outgoing stock and manage inventory records.
- Uphold safety, hygiene, and security standards in warehouse spaces.
5. Office & Facility Support
- Oversee facility management including office utilities and repairs.
- Coordinate with service providers (e.g. cleaning, maintenance).
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain up-to-date procurement, transport, and stock files.
- Submit timely reports to the Logistics Manager.
- Support internal/external audits.
Security, Access, and Risk Management
7. Safety & Access Management
- Implement and monitor country-level security protocols.
- Adapt HEARO policies and contingency plans for field use.
- Support emergency responses alongside Program teams.
8. Humanitarian Access Monitoring
- Analyze regional access and evolving security conditions.
- Develop field access mapping and quarterly security updates.
9. Context Analysis & Supervision
- Deliver situational reports and briefings to Security Focal Points.
- Recommend updates on risk strategies based on changing dynamics.
10. Training & Capacity Building
- Deliver safety briefings to all new staff and visitors within 24 hours.
- Facilitate ongoing staff training on emergency response and risk.
11. Representation & Coordination
- Engage regularly with local authorities and humanitarian actors.
- Share situational intelligence and ensure accurate info flows.
Delivery Excellence
- Ensure smooth, timely, and compliant service delivery.
- Anticipate bottlenecks and work proactively with program staff.
- Maintain high standards aligned with international procurement norms.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- May supervise drivers, interns, and temporary laborers as needed.

Budget Oversight
- Monitor and manage logistics and administrative expenditures.

Who We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field.
- At least 4 years of logistics experience, preferably in an NGO context.
- Solid knowledge of procurement, asset, and transport systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP/logistics software is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and multitasking ability.
- Fluency in English and Swahili required.
- Integrity, resilience, and a proactive mindset.
