Position Details

  • Title: Logistics Supervisor
  • Reports to: Deputy Logistics Coordinator
  • Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
  • Employment Type: Full-time, 100%

Key Responsibilities

The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily logistics activities, maintaining MSF’s equipment, facilities, and infrastructure to ensure they are in perfect working condition. This role is crucial for the overall success of the mission.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Infrastructure & Maintenance: Monitor and manage the maintenance of all facilities and non-medical stock according to MSF standards. This involves daily visits, reporting issues, and overseeing minor rehabilitation work.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the logistics team, including defining tasks, creating work schedules, conducting meetings, and participating in recruitment.
  • Fleet Management: Ensure all project vehicles and motorized equipment are well-maintained through timely preventive and curative care. Provide guidance and monitoring to drivers.
  • Supply & Procurement: Manage and follow up on logistics orders from various departments, providing technical support to the storekeeper, making local purchases, and ensuring proper reception of materials.
  • Asset Management: Ensure all MSF equipment is properly encoded, inventoried, and tracked using the TMS system.

Specific Job Accountabilities

  • HR and Team Management
    • Ensure the logistics team adheres to organizational policies and job profiles.
    • Update driver rosters and leave plans monthly.
    • Conduct bi-annual performance objectives and evaluations for the team.
    • Organize and document monthly team meetings with clear action points.
    • Brief new staff on MSF rules, tools, and tasks.
  • MSF Premises Management
    • Develop and execute a preventive and corrective maintenance plan for all MSF premises.
    • Confirm all utilities (electricity, water, internet) are functioning correctly.
    • Perform regular inventory of all equipment within the premises.
  • Fleet Management
    • Plan, coordinate, and monitor all logistics activities related to fleet management to ensure vehicles and equipment are in optimal condition.
  • Assets Management
    • Encode new equipment in the TMS system immediately upon commissioning.
    • Conduct quarterly inventory checks of all equipment.
  • Movement Coordination
    • Book taxis for staff through authorized providers, as needed.
    • Prepare and submit the Travel Security Form (TSF) for staff movements at least 48 hours in advance for validation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education: A Diploma in Logistics is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is essential. Experience in a humanitarian organization, particularly with MSF, is desirable.
  • Skills: Essential computer literacy (Word, Excel) is a must.
  • Languages: Fluent oral and written English and Swahili are required.
