Position: Relationship Officer – SME

Reporting to: Branch Manager
Job Summary
As a Relationship Officer – SME, your primary responsibility is to grow the SME loan book while maintaining strong client relationships. You will assess creditworthiness, structure credit facilities, and ensure all loan processes meet regulatory and compliance standards. This role requires a mix of analytical skills, interpersonal finesse, and strategic thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular client visits for loan monitoring and collections
- Analyze loan applications and assess client eligibility
- Visit clients’ business locations for detailed loan analysis and credit profiling
- Ensure all disbursement and post-disbursement procedures comply with bank policies
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on loan performance and portfolio health
- Collaborate with Branch Managers and other departments to drive business growth
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (e.g., Banking, Finance, Economics)
- A master’s degree or relevant professional certification is an added advantage
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in relationship management or credit analysis within the banking or financial services sector
- Demonstrated success in managing SME loan portfolios and structuring complex credit deals
Key Skills
- Deep understanding of credit products, financial risk assessment, and compliance
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Proficiency in financial modeling tools, credit management software, and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Tanzanian banking laws and regulatory standards
