The U.S. Mission in Dar es Salaam is looking for a skilled Mechanic (Security Systems) to join its Engineering Security Office (ESO). This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a dynamic, international environment, contributing to the safety and security of U.S, Mechanic (Security Systems) (All Interested Candidates) at U.S. Embassy September 2025, The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of security and life-safety equipment, including:
- Active Vehicle Barriers and Control Systems (AVBCS): Develop and manage the maintenance and repair program for AVBCS, ensuring systems meet U.S. Department of State standards.
- Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to keep CCTV cameras and monitors in optimal working condition.
- Forced Entry/Ballistic Resistant (FE/BR) Doors and Windows: Conduct inspections, installations, and maintenance to ensure the integrity of these critical security components.
- Other Security Systems: Work on a variety of other systems, including locks, public address systems, walk-through metal detectors, and explosive detection equipment.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and mechanical systems, with a proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment. This role requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience: At least five years of hands-on field experience in the installation and major repair of electrical and heavy-duty mechanical equipment, CCTV, and AVBCS.
- Education: Completion of a two-year diploma in Electronics, Electrical, or Mechanical engineering from a recognized institution.
- Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematic diagrams, strong interpersonal skills, conflict management abilities, and a good working knowledge of MS Excel, Access, and Word.
- Travel: The position requires occasional travel to constituent posts in Burundi, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. A local Class B&D driver’s license is required.
