Position Details

Job Purpose
The Medical Officer In-charge will oversee the daily management of UMATI’s Mbinga Clinic. The role involves developing, coordinating, and implementing clinic strategies, supervising healthcare delivery, and ensuring the highest quality of reproductive health and general medical services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure effective delivery of quality reproductive and general healthcare services.
- Supervise clinic operations in compliance with UMATI policies, Ministry of Health standards, and professional ethics.
- Provide direct medical services including history taking, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, and minor procedures (e.g., cervical cancer screening).
- Maintain confidentiality, client safety, and professional integrity at all times.
- Develop comprehensive service packages that attract diverse clientele.
- Provide integrated SRH services including family planning methods.
- Implement and monitor clinic quality-of-care systems.
- Keep accurate client records (manual and electronic) and provide timely reports.
- Manage safe custody of drugs, reagents, and medical supplies.
- Ensure achievement of financial and service delivery targets.
- Use Clinic Management Information Systems (CMIS) effectively.
- Stay updated with Standard Operating Procedures, drugs, and treatment regimens.
- Support clinic strategies for sustainable performance.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine from a recognized institution.
- Master of Public Health (MPH) is an added advantage.
- A valid practicing license with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge in:
- Ultrasound
- Primary health care, maternal & child health, SRH, HIV/AIDS, communicable diseases
- Pharmacology and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) measures
