Mlimba District Council has an exciting opportunity for Tanzanians to join the Food Systems, Land Use, and Restoration of Landscapes (FOLUR) Project. Mlimba District Council Contract Vacancies October 2025, This important project is funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and supervised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. To implement it successfully, the Council is inviting qualified Tanzanian citizens to apply for contract job positions as outlined below.

1. Position: Field Extension Officer (Afisa Ugani) – 2 Posts

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Development, Natural Resource Management, Land Use Management, Environmental Studies, Community Development, or Social Sciences.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in project planning, implementation, community mobilization, and engagement in Tanzania.
  • Prior experience working on Natural Resource Management projects with NGOs or government institutions will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience in gender mainstreaming and women’s empowerment in natural resource projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working with traditional leaders, marginalized groups, multi-sectoral teams, and government officials.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong stakeholder relationships at district and community levels.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili (both spoken and written).
  • Must possess a valid driving license and be able to ride a motorcycle.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Field Extension Officer will:

  • Coordinate community meetings, training, and workshops.
  • Support sustainable use of forests, water, and land resources within project areas.
  • Collaborate with local communities, traditional leaders, and government offices for effective project implementation.
  • Work closely with the Landscape Coordinator in preparing methodologies, implementation plans, and technical support.
  • Assist in building community awareness of project processes and technical needs.
  • Record field activity data and contribute to semi-annual and annual reports.
  • Provide inputs for the Results Framework and project work plan tracking.
  • Participate in project management meetings and annual reflection workshops.
  • Provide technical advice and logistical support in project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Address community grievances and act as a focal person for feedback.
  • Carry out any other tasks as assigned by the Landscape Coordinator.

Salary and Employment Terms

  • Salary: According to project guidelines.
  • Contract: 1-year renewable contract (up to 4 years based on performance).

General Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years.
  • Attach a birth certificate.
  • Submit a handwritten application letter.
  • Attach a detailed CV, copy of National ID (NIDA), academic certificates (Form IV, VI, and degree), and two recent passport-size photographs with names written on the back.
  • Applicants with foreign qualifications must attach equivalence recognition from TCU/NACTE.
  • Note: Testimonials, provisional results, and result slips will not be accepted.
  • False information will result in legal action.
