Job Title: Nurse and Midwifery Tutor (4 Positions)

As a Nurse and Midwifery Tutor at SUMAIT, you will bridge the crucial gap between classroom theory and clinical application. Your role will involve delivering lessons, supervising clinical practice, and mentoring future nurses and midwives to meet national professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver monthly and weekly lesson plans and clinical teaching schedules.
  • Conduct both classroom and hands-on clinical training in line with established timetables.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance through tests, practical exams, and continuous assessment.
  • Provide mentorship, academic guidance, and emotional support to students.
  • Participate in curriculum design, academic planning, and institutional quality assurance activities.
  • Advise on procurement and utilization of clinical training materials and equipment.
  • Support student admissions and participate in orientation activities.
  • Maintain accurate student records and generate progress reports.
  • Ensure compliance with standards set by the Tanzania/Zanzibar Nurses and Midwives Council and the Ministry of Education.
  • Contribute to university meetings, departmental planning, and sectoral reforms in healthcare education.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery or Medical Education (required).
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Midwifery, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Valid Tutorship License from the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in a clinical or academic setting.
  • Registration with the Ministry of Education and a valid practicing license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current trends in healthcare education, patient safety, and nursing practices.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and computer literacy skills.
