About the Program: Empowering Young Women Across Africa

In partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, BRAC International is implementing a transformative initiative that aims to reach 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and indirectly impact 9.5 million individuals across seven African countries. The program equips AGYW with skills, tools, and resources to navigate adolescence successfully, realize their potential, and become change-makers in their communities.

Position: Technical Sector Officer – Community Mobilization (TSO–CM)

Locations: Dar es Salaam, Mwanza, Dodoma, Tabora, Morogoro, Iringa, Mbeya, Tanga
Type: Full-Time | Contractual
Salary: Negotiable

Key Responsibilities

A. Technical Support

  • Implement community mobilization strategies: transect walks, YDC formation, surveys.
  • Train staff and mentors on gender equality, SRHR, GBV, and disability inclusion.
  • Lead SBCC dialogue sessions with religious, cultural, and community leaders.
  • Ensure accessible, safe club environments with gender-sensitive facilities.
  • Support grassroots-level advocacy and follow-up on community-led action plans.

B. Coordination & Partnerships

  • Build partnerships with CSOs, INGOs, government bodies, and youth networks.
  • Organize events for International Women’s Day, 16 Days of Activism, etc.
  • Contribute to mapping and coordination of SRHR and SGBV services.

C. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track GESI indicators and maintain quality assurance in program databases.
  • Document and report success stories and advocacy outcomes.
  • Assist with data entry, reporting, and MIS system updates (BInsight).

D. Policy & Strategy Alignment

  • Promote BRAC’s Enabling Environment Strategy and safeguarding policies.
  • Facilitate localization of policies and guidelines for frontline staff.

E. Safeguarding

  • Ensure implementation of safeguarding standards.
  • Promote awareness and compliance among all stakeholders.
  • Report and respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Postgraduate Degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Development Studies, Anthropology, or related Social Sciences.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in community mobilization, advocacy, GESI, and SBCC.
  • Skills:
    • Strong training, facilitation, and advocacy skills.
    • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
    • Computer literacy and cultural competence.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with adolescent girls and young women.
  • Prior involvement in developing community-based SBCC materials and tools.
