Your Role at a Glance
As the Solar Water Pumping System Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of solar water pumping system design—from initial calculations and software-based modeling to field implementation and performance analysis.
You’ll lead a dedicated team, collaborate with multiple departments, and ensure that every system is efficient, cost-effective, and tailored to meet real-world needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Design customized solar water pumping systems using software tools (e.g., Lorentz COMPASS, Grundfos) and manual engineering methods.
- Interpret pump datasheets and perform calculations, including:
- Total Dynamic Head (TDH)
- Wire sizing & voltage drop
- Pipe pressure losses
- Source and recommend optimal components and technologies.
- Coordinate with fabrication, procurement, and installation teams to streamline implementation.
- Troubleshoot system failures and create technical documentation for field teams.
- Utilize remote monitoring tools for system performance and support.
- Engage with clients post-installation to ensure satisfaction and system longevity.
- Support business development through technical presentations and client interactions.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy, Water Resource Engineering, or any related field.
- Solar PV or solar water pumping certification/training is a strong plus.
- Valid driver’s license is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience with AC and DC solar water pumps (surface and submersible).
- Familiarity with solar controllers, inverters, and distribution networks.
- Proven record of installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Technical Skills:
- Strong grasp of solar PV sizing, design, and installation.
- Capable of performing hydraulic design and CAD drafting for donor-funded or tendered projects.
- Proficiency in design tools like PVSyst, Helioscope, or equivalents.
- Skilled in reading electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience with Bill of Quantities (BoQ) preparation.
Additional Skills:
- Basic plumbing and mechanical installation capabilities.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in solar installations.
- Sales and client-facing experience is a bonus.
