Position: Procurement Category Manager – Spare Parts
Reporting to: Procurement Director, East African Region
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Lead procurement of spare parts across regional operations in line with Twiga Cement’s strategic sourcing objectives.
- Collaborate closely with departments such as Operations, Maintenance, Warehouse, Finance, Projects, and Technical teams, as well as HM Group and country-level stakeholders.
Performance and Cost Management
- Monitor and optimize procurement KPIs including spend analysis, cost savings, DPO (Days Payable Outstanding), and P2P (Procure-to-Pay) cycle efficiency.
- Support budget planning and inventory control by aligning purchases with minimum/maximum stock levels.
- Maximize cost avoidance and working capital improvements through supplier negotiations and alternate sourcing.
Supplier & Market Intelligence
- Conduct market research to assess supplier capabilities, pricing trends, risk exposure, and delivery timelines.
- Identify and implement procurement levers such as bundling, standardization, make-or-buy analysis, and eAuctions.
Operational Continuity and Risk Management
- Proactively manage supply risks and ensure continuity through supplier diversification and strategic planning.
- Develop procurement strategies using data-driven insights and supply market analysis.
Technology-Driven Procurement
- Champion digital procurement tools such as eTendering, eNegotiation, eBuying platforms, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), and AI-driven analytics.
- Continuously enhance P2P systems, processes, and documentation to drive automation and compliance.
Team Development and Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Conduct regular team and individual performance reviews with clear KPIs and development plans.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure full adherence to all country-specific laws and Twiga/HM Group policies.
- Work alongside Health & Safety teams to embed safety protocols into procurement and supplier operations.
- Uphold ethical standards and compliance with the Code of Business Conduct.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in procurement tools and data platforms.
- Effective communicator and strategic thinker with hands-on execution capabilities.
- Team-oriented with a high level of integrity and accountability.
Experience
- 7+ years in procurement, ideally within the Cement, Steel, Fertilizer, or Sugar industries.
- Demonstrated success in multinational project management and cross-country collaboration.
