Procurement Officer Role Overview
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Employment Type: Full-Time
The Procurement Officer will manage end-to-end procurement processes, from stock management and supplier coordination to logistics and asset tracking. The ideal candidate must ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality supply of goods and services that support ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the organization and cleanliness of the store, with accurate stock placement.
- Handle procurement processes ensuring compliance with company and client standards.
- Cross-verify invoices against LPOs, ensuring quality and quantity checks.
- Coordinate closely with the Accounts Department for payment processing.
- Manage stock operations, including inventory control, tracking, and reconciliation.
- Prepare and submit monthly stock movement and valuation reports.
- Conduct and lead the annual stock take and reconciliation process.
- Develop procurement listings based on feedback from ongoing projects.
- Handle import logistics, including documentation, compliance, and freight tracking.
- Monitor warehouse safety and prepare daily inventory reports.
- Ensure proper dispatch operations, with delivery documentation.
- Maintain an accurate asset tracking register.
- Implement systems that reduce cash purchases and improve procurement efficiency.
- Monitor pre-sold stock to prevent double-selling.
- Introduce and manage a computerized stock system using SKU codes.
Requirements
Ideal candidates will have:
- Prior experience in procurement, logistics, or inventory management
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities
- Familiarity with import documentation and Tanzanian customs regulations
- Competency in computerized inventory systems and Microsoft Office tools
