About Heart to Heart Foundation
Founded in 1988, Heart to Heart Foundation has been dedicated to supporting children and families affected by poverty, disease, and disability both locally and internationally. In Tanzania, HtHF began its work in 2009 focusing on Eye Health, officially launching its Tanzania branch in 2011 (Registration No. 00NGO/00004737).
Now, the foundation is set to implement the Community-Led WASH Improvement Initiative in Mtama District (2024–2026), funded by KOICA. The goal is to reduce infectious and waterborne diseases by strengthening water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) systems at both community and health facility levels.
Project Focus Areas
The WASH project emphasizes three major interventions:
- Health Facility-Centered WASH Improvement – Ensuring safe drinking water is accessible through public health facilities.
- Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) – Empowering communities to construct improved household latrines and adopt sustainable hygiene practices.
- Strengthening WASH Governance – Establishing strong coordination and monitoring mechanisms at district level (CHMT, RHMT).
Job Overview
- Position: Project Officer
- Location: Lindi Town, Tanzania
- Contract Duration: One-year (renewable)
The Project Officer will provide technical leadership, oversight, and coordination of project implementation to ensure efficiency, quality, and measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and lead project activities in Mtama District.
- Develop detailed work plans and oversee full-cycle project implementation.
- Ensure timely, cost-effective execution of activities in line with project targets and budgets.
- Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and prepare detailed reports (weekly, monthly, and success stories).
- Support the Field Manager in managing Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) systems.
- Conduct stakeholder engagement and build partnerships with local authorities and service providers.
- Organize regular team meetings, track deliverables, and ensure accountability.
- Document case studies and success stories to showcase project impact.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Water and Sanitation, Social Sciences, International Development or related field.
- Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years’ technical experience in WASH programs (Water Point Committees, Community Microfinance Groups, CLTS, Sanitation Marketing).
- Strong project management, planning, monitoring, and evaluation skills.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to foster teamwork.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across diverse cultures.
