About the Internship Programme

Hosted by the South Centre—a leading intergovernmental organization of developing countries—this internship is rooted in the mission to promote health equity and defend Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) from a Global South perspective. Hence, Interns can choose to work on-site in Geneva or remotely, contributing to impactful global health initiatives through research, advocacy, and policy support.

Who Should Apply?

To be eligible for the South Centre Internship, applicants must:

  • Firstly be fluent in English (knowledge of French or Spanish is a bonus).
  • Be enrolled in or recently graduated from a postgraduate program in international human rights law.
  • Demonstrate strong interest in SRHR, health justice, and Global South development issues.
  • Possess research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Be organized, proactive, and collaborative in diverse working environments.
  • Show sensitivity to the unique challenges facing developing countries (G77 + China), and also
  • Preference is given to candidates from the Global South or those with a deep understanding of its context.

Internship Details

  • Duration: Minimum of 3 months
  • Time Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Location: Geneva, Switzerland, or virtual
  • Summer Track: At least 10 weeks

Your Role as an Intern

  • Organize side events at international health forums (WHO, HRC).
  • Assist with policy drafting, advocacy strategies, and SRHR-focused research.
  • Support training and workshops for Global South diplomats.
  • Develop materials for education, advocacy, and negotiation, also
  • Collaborate on advocacy campaigns and policy dialogues.
