About TAYOA

Founded in 1997, TAYOA is a registered non-profit organization that empowers Tanzanian youth through civic and human rights advocacy, entrepreneurship, and HIV/AIDS education. The organization operates under the Trustees Ordinance and Act No. 24 of 2002, with guidance from both a Board of Trustees and a Youth Advisory Board. Over the years, TAYOA has become a key partner in delivering large-scale community health programs in collaboration with government and civil society organizations.

Program Overview

The GFC7 TB/HIV Community-based Program, implemented with support from the Ministry of Health, aims to expand and sustain critical community-level HIV and TB services across 185 councils in Tanzania. TAYOA works alongside CSSC, NACOPHA, MKUTA, and STEPS to ensure peer-led, community-driven interventions.

Program Targets by 2025:

  • Reduce new HIV infections by 85% (from 2010 baseline).
  • Lower mother-to-child HIV transmission to below 4%.
  • Cut AIDS-related deaths by 80% (from 2010 baseline).
  • Reduce HIV-related stigma to less than 5%.
  • Strengthen TB detection, prevention, and treatment nationwide.

Position 1: Zonal AGYW Officer (3 Posts)

Duty Stations: Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Mwanza
Reports to: Zonal Coordinator/TAYOA AGYW Coordinator

Job Summary: The Zonal AGYW Officer will oversee the implementation of HIV combination prevention programs targeting Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW). The role includes ensuring the delivery of biomedical, structural, and behavioral interventions, coordinating with health facilities, CSOs, and government stakeholders, and strengthening service linkages for AGYW, especially survivors of GBV.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support design and rollout of HIV prevention interventions for AGYW.
  • Facilitate community empowerment, peer education, and capacity-building activities.
  • Oversee AGYW enrollment, retention, and service layering.
  • Strengthen referrals for GBV survivors to access medical, psychosocial, and legal services.
  • Build capacity of peer educators and organize regular peer-led sessions.
  • Collaborate with R/CHMTs, DACC, CHAC, police gender desks, and community officers for effective coordination.
  • Supervise peer educators and ensure accurate data reporting into DHIS2.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public health, HIV/TB, OVC, or AGYW-related programs.
  • Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS, TB, and GBV interventions.
  • Proven ability in community engagement, data management, and program evaluation.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and strong interpersonal skills.

Position 2: Driver (3 Posts)

Duty Stations: Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Mwanza
Reports to: TAYOA Administration Officer

Job Summary:
The Driver will provide safe and reliable transport for staff, visitors, and project equipment. The role includes ensuring proper vehicle maintenance, adherence to traffic laws, and accurate record-keeping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport personnel, visitors, and project equipment.
  • Maintain vehicle logbooks, fuel usage reports, and mileage records.
  • Ensure vehicles are clean, fueled, and properly maintained.
  • Conduct routine checks and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Comply with road safety regulations and organizational policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate of Secondary Education or Driving Certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Valid Driving License Classes B, C, D, and E.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a driver for NGOs or international organizations.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and road safety.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
