1. Supplement Editor – Job Overview

The Supplement Editor will be responsible for creating high-quality advertorials and special supplements that resonate with readers and meet client expectations. This role combines editorial creativity with client-focused content development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop editorial plans for special supplements and advertorial features.
  • Write, edit, and proofread content tailored to client needs while maintaining journalistic standards.
  • Coordinate with advertisers, designers, and editorial teams to ensure timely, engaging content delivery.
  • Guarantee accuracy, clarity, and creativity in all supplement publications.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently under tight deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ proven experience in editorial writing, editing, or content development.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in English; Swahili is an added advantage.
  • Experience in advertorials, marketing content, or corporate communication.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

2. Graphic Designer – Job Overview

The Graphic Designer will play a pivotal role in developing and executing visual communication materials, ensuring high-quality design for The Guardian Limited’s publications. This position demands creativity, technical skill, and attention to detail.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop designs based on client requirements.
  • Insert advertisements into main working files and perform color separation and page proofing.
  • Collaborate with the News Room graphics team and complete additional assignments as directed.
  • Ensure final artwork is proofread for accuracy and quality.
  • Produce camera-ready pages for newspapers on time.
  • Create high-quality charts, graphs, illustrations, and other visual materials.
  • Adhere to the duty roster and complete tasks assigned by the Head of Graphics or Editors.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Graphic Design or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Skills in video editing and motion graphics are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in graphic design.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and collaborative skills.
