1. Biomedical Engineer (Volunteer) – TMHS
Department: Medical Supplies
Reports to: Medical Supplies Manager
Location: Tanzania
Deadline: 15th September 2025
Role Overview
The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for the development, repair, and maintenance of biomedical equipment to ensure that all medical devices operate safely and effectively. This includes both internal support (TMHS ambulances and store equipment) and external services (clients who require calibration, consultancy, and maintenance support).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair biomedical equipment in various medical facilities.
- Design, test, and improve medical products, devices, and systems.
- Manage calibration, servicing, and technical support for equipment.
- Conduct staff training on safe equipment usage.
- Prevent breakdowns and malfunctions by implementing proactive maintenance.
- Assess safety, efficiency, and compliance of all biomedical devices.
- Research innovative technologies and solutions to enhance biomedical systems.
- Oversee equipment registration with regulatory bodies such as TMDA.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Biomedical Engineering.
- At least 1 year of working experience in a similar role.
2. Safety Officer (Volunteer) – TMHS
Department: Safety and Quality
Reports to: HOD, Safety and Quality
Location: Tanzania
Deadline: 12th September 2025
Role Overview
The Safety Officer will assist the Safety and Quality Department by ensuring workplace safety, compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, and promoting quality standards. The role also involves customer engagement and sales functions related to OHS consultancy services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out frequent safety inspections and OHS system checks.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions or customer complaints within 24 hours.
- Prepare and process tender applications for OHS consultancy services.
- Maintain certifications and accreditations necessary for OHS operations.
- Build and maintain partnerships with organizations requiring OHS consultancy.
- Conduct competitor and market analysis to develop cost-effective safety packages.
- Submit monthly and annual safety reports to the Head of Department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences and Management or any related field.
