About the Tanzania Forest Services (TFS) Agency
Established under the Executive Agencies Act and operational since 2010, TFS is a semi-autonomous government agency under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. It is tasked with managing Tanzania’s forest and bee resources sustainably and professionally. TFS implements key legal frameworks such as the Forest Act and Beekeeping Act, which guide the conservation, development, and utilization of forest and bee resources.
With headquarters in Dodoma, TFS operates through seven regional zones: Eastern (Pwani), Southern (Mtwara), Southern Highlands (Mbeya), Northern (Kilimanjaro), Western (Tabora), Lake Zone (Mwanza), and Central Zone (Dodoma). These zones manage day-to-day conservation and administrative functions while the headquarters handles national strategic planning.
